Wives' reactions?
I'd like to know how all of your wives first reacted to seeing you kilted. Mine was less than thrilled, but she's coming around.

I'm not married anymore, but my ex-wife loved it at first. She thought it was extremely sexy, and it definitely helped our love life a bit. However after a year or so, it wasn't a big deal anymore. It was just like I was wearing pants. I kind of miss those early days, however it's nice to have the "natural acceptance" as well, and not have to worry about extreme reactions every time I put it on.

My wife has always been supportive. It sure helps when we go out and I'm kilted to know that she is not 'embarassed' (for lack of a better word) to be seen with me kilted. She helps to make sure that pleats are straightened and not in danger of flashing anyone. My daughter (17) likewise thinks the kilt is pretty cool, and even asked for me to wear it to our dinner out for my wife's birthday last week. I'm not sure what my son (19) thought about it at first, I think he was concerned what his friends would think of him. However this summer he has worked around a couple of others his age who have Utilikilts and he said he almost got one last week so I think he is coming around. At any rate my household is pretty supportive and likes the look of the kilt.

I'm much the same way. The first time I tried on a kilt (a loaner from a friend), she really liked seeing me in it. I get the impression at this point that she likes me in the more traditional style kilts rather than my contemporaries (granted, for me, my most "traditional" kilt is a SWK standard).
My in-laws live up the road as well, and we spend quite a bit of time with them either at our house or going out, and none of them have ever seemed concerned or embarrassed to be seen with me.
The wee one (my 2 1/2 y.o. daughter) knows what a kilt is, what a sporran is (like any dutiful daughter, she knows that a sporran is where Daddy keeps his credit cards).
All and all, nobody in my family has frowned. I've been very lucky that way.

I'll have to admit mine wasn't exactly thrilled either, but we have been to numerous social events in the local Scottish community over the past few years. There have been lots of well dressed kilted men present at these events. She soon found out I wasn't the only male affected with this addiction.
Now she is very free and sincere with the compliments on my highland dress and enjoys being escorted to social events by a well dressed kilted man.
Our entire social life is centered on the Scottish community events now. She has indeed undergone a miraculous conversion.

My wife is pretty supportive. All she said was "if you're comfortable, them I'm happy". She's pretty easy-going about most things.
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

It was my wife's idea to get me my 1st kilt. The second I tried it on I was hooked. She wanted me to put away & only wear it to Highland Games & the like. But it was too late. We fought & argued for over a year. She wanted a compromise. So I did. ... I wear my kilt & She accepts it. THAT is the compromise.

She's buying me a kilt for my birthday. AND since my best friend is an unkilted Anderson who shares my birthday (almost- he's 2 weeks older than me) she's getting him a USAK for his birthday as well. She thinks all men should wear kilts. Gods bless her.

my wife at first was aprehensive but supportive of me wearing one as it has grown on her she has helped me buy 11 in 2 1/2 years now. She will even say I thought you would have worn your kilt today. With a 17 and a 14 year old girls in the house they think its just so cool. I feel very positive about wearing mine as much as possible

Mine was happy. She thinks it is very cool and loves the fact that I am proud of my heritage. She also likes the way I look in it.
