    DIY Daywear Sporran

My first kilt related DIY project is a daywear sporran. The only sporran I had was a really cheap one made out of really bad leather, you know the ones you can get for 15 dollars. Anyway I was sitting at the kitchen table a few weeks ago and decided to make myself one of similiar design but with some leather I had sitting around that is much better quality. I fully hand stitched it. As a decorative touch I added a horn closure and braided a cord to attach the horn to the sporran out of some waxed linen thread. I am considering braiding some tassels for decoration. That will have to wait until i get more leather though.
Comments and suggestions for improvement are very welcome.

Now i need to see about making a sporran strap for it as I am really not a fan of the chain with it.

That's a very nice looking sporran. And, yes, make yourself a leather strap, the chain will wear out the material of the kilt over time.

    Good job!

i got the strap for mine from the tandy leather factory, same brown, and added a buckle for about ten bucks all told...just ask for a 1/2 inch by 60 strap in brown and a half inch buckle...the rivets come as a separate kit but i don't count those as i use so many of them

I love the simplicity of the design, the "truth to materials" and the balance of the elements. You have truly created a work of art!

I love it! I've made many sporrans and continue to enjoy the creativity. Hope you do more.
