I'd try doing a roasted mash out of them instead of a boiled mash..... Bake the swedes and potatoes until all soft and the potatoes are fluffy inside, skin them, then whip them up with butter and a bit of cream. DELISH.

Another of those calorie filled yummy things the Scots make. (Of course if you live in a cold climate you would need all those calories just to keep warm.) Here in the Southern US it is the better part of wisdom to take small portions of all that good stuff!
