    My First Tartan WOOL kilt

    Hello all.

I am happy to show you the box-pleated kilt in the Chattahoochee tartan that I created for a fellow Xmarker, ScotchMaster. If you'll remember, he sent out a call for DIY'ers on XMTS to create a kilt for him using the Chattahoochee tartan wool that was shipped from the eBay U.K (Matt Newsome identified the tartan from the picture). [You know Scotchmaster -- he just recently got his Tweed double box-pleat bunker from Lady Chrystel.]

    Here's some pictures.

The Chattahoochee Tartan. Its design was commissioned by the City of Roswell in Georgia just before the '96 Olympics.

    Kilt in progress:

May I present Scotchmaster in his new box-pleated Chattahoochee kilt (by yours truly)...

    Kilt closeup:

Closeup of the top band and front apron:

I also made the hose flashes from the same tartan:

Closeup of the pleated section (stitched):

Oh look, a little customized label :-) And internal leather strap/buckle.

    A thing of Beauty

Having received this kilt from Mein a week ago and not be able to find time to try it on until yesterday; this kilt is fantastic. He is truly a craftsman. It fits great, the attention to detail is truly professional an he threw in to pairs of matching flashes.

It is a truly uniques kilt a box pleat, a unusual tartan and true craftsmanship. It is something I will treasure for years to come.

That is a lovely kilt, Mein! No wonder you haven't been posting much lately lots of work there, and well done.

That's a beaut!. I never heard of the Chattahoochee tartan before, and I live right next to the river. Go figure, man!

It's a very nice kilt. I am curious why a person in Boston would wear a Chattahoochie tartan. Did you live here at one time?

WOW! That kilt is truly a thing of beauty. It should bring joy for years to come. I wish I had a 1/4 of the talent needed to produce that.
