    Moore, Taggart & Co LTD

I finally bought my first kilt a couple months back from an army surplus store in montreal but I realized that I know absolutely nothing about the manufacturer. Its a wool Black Watch made circa 1953 thats 25.5 inches long with 30 pleats at 3.5 inches deep and was made by Moore, Taggart & Co LTD The only thing I know about M,T & Co is that they were based out of Glasgow circa 1868.
Does anyone have a kilt made by this manufacturer?

Its too bad that the kilt needs to be repaired some, the strap on the inner apron is missing and the top most buckle on the outer side of the kilt is missing, other than that the kilt itself is in ridiculously good condition for being nearly 56 years old !

    Congratulations.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

A find. Congratulations! I can't tell you anything about the maker of your new acquisition, but if you are seeking someone to undertake some repairs (and don't mind using a kilt maker all the way across the country) I can highly recommend member Rob MacDonald at West Coast Kilts. www.westcoastkilts.com. Rob is well-versed in military kiltmaking; he may even know MT&Co.

Congratulations on the new acquisition, I highly recommend Steve Ashton for kilt repairs. He has a bit of experience with military kilts and is in British Columbia, and so would not involve customs across the border to the U.S. See Freedom Kilts above.

thanks for the repair suggestions, Im leaning more toward professional repair rather than letting Mum go at it with her needle. And thanks Matty Ross for investing some search time but we ended up at the same conclusion.
