NOT ticked off!
I've seen two threads about people who are ticked tonight, so I thought I would let you all know that I am not ticked off. I had an unusually good night kilted. My wife and I met my parents and son at Denny's for dinner (at the boy's request.) Mrs Nighthawk and I spent about 20 minutes wondering around Hobby Lobby getting Christmas gift ideas for Mom. We then walked the half mile or so (in 15 degree F weather) to Denny's, where the waitress who greeted us just for the life of her couldn't believe that I wasn't freezing my bits and pieces off. I had the opportunity to show her how the kilt is constructed, and just where all the dead air is, and how it keeps you nice and toasty. I was wearing a SWK heavyweight Nightstalker, grey shirt, grey hose, and my black leather duster. So- I told the waitress, who thought like most Americans that the kilt is nothing more than a skirt for men, to get in her mind what her skirts feel like as far as the fabric goes. I had her feel the material of my kilt. Her eyes went wide with surprise at how thick it was in comparison to her skirts. She then understood, and had to take time to call her boyfriend and send him a picture of me from her cell phone. I heard her saying that he needs to get on of those things... so I gave her Stillwater's website addy.
So- I am not ticked. I had a good day.

There you go, Nighthawk! That's the spirit.
BTW, I'm cooking a few chickens, so the cats are happy tonight too; they get the bird juices.

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

My pleasure.
And in truth, I think my attitude helps. Very simply, there is no such thing as a good day or a bad one. They're all ordinary days. It's all your state of mind (Yes, I'm a Great Big Sea fanatic.) I refuse to let others- family and strangers alike- bring me down. To quote another song, if you don't like me, then leave me alone.
Or to quote GBS again... Kiss my Irish... rear end. I find that just not caring about the unfounded negatives get me through a lot in life. Oh, and making sure I maintain a sunny disposition. I'm the guy at work who gets in the most trouble for starting the most mischief. If there is someone not having fun, that's just not right.

My kitties are jealous. And cuddly. It's cold here, so I will most likely have a purring fur blanket this evening. Gods bless the little monsters.

I wore my SWK Black Stewart kilt to a friend's birthday bash tonight and was greeted quite warmly by all involved. I too did not have a crappy day/night.

Upright and electric bass.... started out on electric of course. Have been a professional for close to 9 years now. I exclusively play and have an endorsement deal with Lakland basses out of Chicago, but I played them for a while before I got the deal. No $$ involved... just faith in their basses and the people there. A great bunch for sure! I play 4 and 5 string fretted and 5-string fretless, in addition to double bass. Glad to meet another kilted bassist!

Charles Mingus, and that other guy who played with a bow and scatted the same notes at an octive are my favorites.
I used to be a bassist and a guitar picker, but I put it behind me.
The last bass I had was one of those maple PeaVeas with the satin finish jazz neck. It wasn't bad. I played Fenders too. All stolen from me...

Awesome post... thanks for sharing!
Oh, I'm a guitarist, not a bassist, but... cheers anyways! I play Ibanez.

Just to add my story, I also went to a birthday do last night only this was a Birthday Ball. I was amazed at two things. Firstly the lassie that invited me along was celebrating her 50 birthday, I swear she looks no older than 35, so I was pretty flabbergasted, much to her amusement and the other thing was that there were three kiltarians there, all dressed up. It was a good night.
I may be able to get some of the photos to show, I was too busy dancing to take any myself. ![Smile](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
