When I first wrote about the X-Kilt, I made a note that if anybody ever decided to produce themas a business, they were more than welcome to do so. I'd like to re-iterate that, now. The X-Kilt instructions are a gift to one and all. Do not slightly re-write them, illustrate the instructions and sell the resulting manual as your own, OK? But if anyone wishes to make photographs of their own X-Kilt,finished,or the "progress photos" and msg me about them, then I'll look them over and see if I can't incorporate them into the text. Just please disassociate your ego from those pictures, so if they don't get used,you understand that it's not a personal message from me that I HATE you

I'm currently looking over (or will, soon) instructions from sydnie7 on how to adapt the X-Kilt to reverse kinguisse construction. In fact, if I get more pictures...along with Tartan Hikers instructions and sydnie7's instructions, this will have turned into a 50 page book on making a particular type of kilt,with variations. And it's free to all. That was the POINT.... 1.) helping others to make their own contemporary kilt so that those with little money could wear one, 2.) help give others the sense of pride in wearing something they'd made themselves, and 3.) so that anyone who makes an X-Kilt will understand why professionally-made kilts cost what they do.

And finally,again...If anyone wishes to produce X-Kilts as part of their business, be my guest. I sure won't be raising a fuss about it.

Alan, I hope to have some more pix for you soon. The last couple I've made have been in camo, which doesn't show well, but I'm starting on a medium grey solid. If they come out, I'll send them along.

I'm looking forward to the RK instruction add. I have several projects in the works, but a black RK Xkilt will be on the list as soon as the instructions are available. By the way Alan, I'm up to four now, pictures of the black one soon.

I've been thinking about making an X-Kilt. Just thinking, mind you. It may never happen...

Nah, I'll do it... maybe... some day...

Actually, I mentioned making a kilt to my wife and she's all for it. Now I have to make one... some day...

I've said it before, somewhere, but it bears repeating. If Alan hadn't published the X-Kilt manual I would have never dreamed of making my first kilt. After three X-kilts, each with some variations from the manual, I decided to try a knife-pleat. After that, I decided to try my hand at PV tartan, then a wool knife-pleat, then a wool box-pleat....

...Now I have a closet full of kilts, and most of them I made myself!

Alan's manual is great for making an X-kilt, but it is obviously terrific for luring one into the world of DIY sewing.

All I saw was I HATE YOU in capitol letters. SIKE, but that did stand out.

Just looking at the manual helped me decide to order my kilt from a pro.

I, too have crunched the same numbers and come to the conclusion that there's no way on earth that someone can make a living sewing up kilts in the Bay Area. Thus, the job being professional geek.
