    Christmas i the mither leid

I considered risking a hijack of the thread about the True Meaning of Christmas, but instead decided I wasn't going to get all aggressively proselytizing on everyone.

Just for your amusement, if you're at all interested in the Biblical Christmas story (oh yeah, what were the first 6 letters?), and interested in Scots as a language, you might be interested in this reading:Tom Fleming reading from the 1st chapter of Luke's gospel

Don't you have RealPlayer or Win MediaPlayer set up to auto load MP3 files? This is a link to an audio clip, should start playing if you have your speakers on.

Apparently, not. I'm using my pc at work and things get installed and removed by the IT Department all the time. I'll listen when I get home.

I was able to play it at home. I enjoyed it all the more that it was done seriously. Thanks.

Yes, it was a reading of Lorimer's translation of the New Testament into Scots. There is available a recording of Tom Fleming reading all of the Gospels from this translation. I wish he had done the entire New Testament. Moreover, I wish Lorimer had done the entire Bible, but we take what we can get.

If you're interested in the recording, it's sold at the same site where I linked to the sample MP3.

It's kind of like listening to Billy Connolly reading Chaucer! Pretty cool. LIkewise reading the book bends my American brain into a mobius strip.
