    Red Xs instead of photos

Okay, I have Windows XP for home.

Whenever someone posts a long string of photos, particularly with a lot of pixels, my rig will show a few photos just fine, then it will show each pic as a red X.

I can go to each red X and click on show picture and the photos will then load just fine....unless, its a really long string of photos then it will revert to red Xs again and I again click on show picture for these remaining red Xs and they will show too.

What I'm wondering if is there a setting somewhere on my computer that will allow more photos to be downloaded so I don't have to mess with clicking show picture on each Red X....which can be challenging since the red Xs bounce around as the other pics load and I sometimes have to chase them a while to get the click done.

Thanks for any info or ideas.

I really think it has to do with the limitations of your ISP I believe you said once that you were on dial-up, so I really think thats why you are having problems.

Okay....as good an answer as any I guess. I can go get the pics by doing the show picutre right click but its tedious.

Seems to be more on the #of pixels downloaded...since on those really heavy pixel pics people post the red Xs will start like on the third or fourth pic. If the pics don't have as many pixels and load faster the red Xs don't seem to start until the 10th or 12th picture.

That would even further support Glen's theory about it being your dial-up service. Have you ever seen (I don't recall it here) on a forum where someone's states "Pic Heavy, Dial-up Killer" or something similar? Good luck with it...

    Thanks Bradley,

I know the high pixel photos take a long long time to download on dial up. But expecting the high speed folks to cut pixels for dial up folks isn't a realistic expectation. I try to check the Show us your pics page from work after hours since I've high speed there.

What is weird is it seems like the red x's come on after a certain pixel limit has been reached. Like there's some setting to switch from pic downloading to the red Xs for that page.

But then, If I go through the motions of right clicking the red x and then clicking 'show picture' the pictures download just fine.

Its like there's a setting asking me if I'm sure I wanna go farther? So, from that thought there might be a place in XP to adjust that setting.

Curious question is why is it there at all? If it'll down load with my okays on each red x picture why doesn't it just go ahead and keep downloading in the first place?
