ARRGH! Make it stop! Make it stop!
Do you ever get your head so full of random ideas, things-to-do, miscellaneous thoughts that you can't get anything done?
Man, I'm on a serious deadline here. I need to read two book chapters and complete an assignment for the online course I'm taking and I have to have it done in a few hours... But I just can't THINK!
Yeah, I'm procrastinating here... <sigh> But unplugging the PC/Internet wouldn't help though because it won't unplug all the stuff that's going on in my brain -- which doesn't need a plugin or a net connection. It's happy just to keep distracting me regardless.
I don't think I'm ADD or anything but... I just... can't.... concentrate...
Any suggestions??

No... No suggestions.
Wait, did you try drinking a glass of water while standing on your head? It might work for hickups.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Let them eat pie!
Go eat something with blueberries in it. Seriously, blueberry essence has something in it that helps sort thoughts into actions.
Works for me anyway. ![Smile](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Have a favourite snack or beverage? or internet site to surf?
Allocate one of these for each important project completed.
Write down the list by priority and reward.
I am here posting AFTER practicing two rounds of Amazing Grace on my chanter.
A good round of one of the tunes that I need to memorize for class, and a simple pleasure, then back to the work. It gives the brain a chance to store and defrag the last project and clean up before the next.

Click your heals together three times while saying "there's no place like home"? Oh wait, that to get out of Oz, for random thoughts when you have a deadline.......Go for a walk, kiss your wife, take a shower...that's what I do. ith:

In that order? Wow. Some interesting suggestions thus far. I like the one about the blueberries though...
Status update: got my writing done; still have to read a pile though. I think I get the way I do because I tend to get overwhelmed by projects. But yeah, the PRINCIPLE of the thing is to clear out your head by doing something completely unrelated, and having a plan of what to tackle, in what order, and in what timeline when you come back from your mental break...
I'm taking a mental break now.....

Have you tried focusing your thoughts by lifting cinderblocks with your mind? It's a lot safer than splitting cinderblocks with your forehead...
Just joking. Good luck with your reading.

I have the same problem as you. I have things to get done, yet I seem to find ways of procrastinating. I don't think I have ADD, but you never...Oh look! Pretty birds!!

One of my 9th graders told me that instead of ADD, I have ADOS: Attention Deficit... Oh, Shiny!

Quick way to test for ADD, drink a 2 liter of Mt Dew. If you can concentrate better, get yourself checked out. If not, well, enjoy the buzz. 8)
