Graduation at Queens University

My eldest daughter Graduated this past Tuesday June 2nd from Queens University Kingston with a degree of civil engineering. We had a grand day, lots of photos, parents being proud and overall a good time.

We stayed at Langdin Hall and in one of the lobbies was a framed kilt ensemble from the Queens Bands

At one time Queens University was affiliated with the University of Edinburgh

Congratulations. Civil engineers, they are the polite ones, right? Reminds me of the story that civil engineers design roads, bridges and dams so mechanical engineers can design munitions to destroy them.

Your daughter, as a civil engineer, might be interested to know that my great-great grandfather Sir Sandford Fleming, was Chancellor of Queens for many years, an honour that he considered to be the greatest bestowed upon him.
