Piqua Heritage Festival kilting advice needed
I am trying to decide on camping at this years Heritage Festival, its a mere $25 for the entire labor day weekend, and I do have a Replica Brit. Infantry tent at my mom's house.
Of course, for 3 days camping, I am thinking of going to Kilted route, and I know I would need wool. (they provide the firewood!)
Q1: Would a knife pleated wool black stewart fit the pre 1870's time frame?
(If not, beyond Gordon, what else would be knife pleated for the time period. I remember Gordon was the first to convert)
Q2: http://www.thefrugalcorner.com/shirts.htm would such a shirt in black be fine for a general period shirt? (I can always get more shirts at the event, I just happen to already have the above in black from a wedding I went to earlier this year)
Q3: http://www.thefrugalcorner.com/sporrans.htm Would a sporran such as S-004 be period, or would I need to get a new one, more like a 'rob roy' one?
Q4: http://stores.channeladvisor.com/Sti...0with%20Buckle is the kilt belt I have, would that be appropriate?
Q5: Do I need diced hose, or are solid colors ok?
Q6: What would an appropriate period hat be?
I know many of these questions have been answered in various other places, to varying degrees. I have searched the forums, and some of it seems foggy to me. (It might be that I am short of caffeine today). Still, it would be nice to have a thread with a good talk on what fits the 1860's in kilt style.
(btw, I mentioned the Blk Stwt. tartan because Jerry has it in wool, otherwise I would probably go for a random one from FC, only because of cost and time constraints, plus I would be wearing it for 3 days straight, might even sleep in it, I wouldn't want to submit a tank to that kind of punishment, and PV/acrylic while tending a camp fire and cooking on that fire would be kinda daft.)

A modern knife-pleated kilt is "close enough" for the 1860's, as are today's glengarries and balmorals. For affordable waistcoats of the period, go here:
http://www.blockaderunner.com/Catalog/catpg11b.html
Appropriate shirts can be found on that site as well:

With a waistcoat, you can skip the belt (and no man of that period would appear in public in just his shirtsleeves!)....

Scroll down. Waistcoats are also known as "vests"...!
