Jonesin' has begun!
Thanks to all of you for your valued advice over the past two weeks. The thread responses have been very helpful. IT was tough choosing a maker as you might imagine based on costs and Jonesin' period, but the information I received in P.M.s was the kicker. Oh, and the one-hour phone conversation with Kathy about me, her and preferences. Her advice and fellowship convinced me that I am in good hands.
The Details:
Deposit via PayPal on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. C.S.T.
Measurements sent (ugh)
16 oz. Strome Weight
MacLellan Ancient
Knife pleated to the sett
Hand sewn by Kathy Lare at Kathy's Kilts
Expected to arrive in six weeks or less. But get this, I mentioned that I have an event (Grand opening of the the Scottish American Center in Minneapolis) on Sept. 12th and that I wish I had ordered six weeks earlier, it might still happen. Now that would be miraculous since it is going to take more than 3500 hand stitches.
She is also making me flashes from the scraps. What color hose would be best?

What colour hose? Any colour you like as long as it's not white or cream! I would try bottle green, lovat green, or, burgundy/maroon.

I'd go with green, myself.
Congratulations on the choice you made! I am sure you will not be disappointed. It is money well invested, IMO.

Congratulations on your choice in both Kilt and Maker! I'd go with the Lovat Green!

I had a dream last night...about my kilt. I dreamt that it arrived in a brown paper bag. Inside was a corduroy kilt that looked like gym shorts with two tartan stripes down the sides (and they weren't even the correct tartan.) The corduroy had an elastic waistband and said made in Arizona. I know Kathy is in NewMexico and I can only imagie she would NEVER make a kilt from corduroy or use elastic in the waistband.
I don't know what that dream means really, but I am hoping the 16 oz Strome doesn't look like corduroy. Now I am dreaming about the kilt, is there something wrong with me? Jonesin' continues...

Ah thats just the local bruja action going, It'll get a little worse till the kilt arrives. Some of the ones that will show progress are the Louie the Lobo kilt dream with a over stuffed mascot and a huge tongue and a really red kilt
...the Pueblo kilt dream where you get your kilt and its made of mud........
and the dreaded RUBBER CHICKEN SPORRAN Kilt Dream!
Not to worry! These are all just local magik action lowering your expectations of the fine Lare Kilt that you will be a proud owner of, I mean its from New Mexico for one and just what does a Gringa know about fine Scotish Garments? I'll give you a hint....ever hear of Georgia O'Keffe?
Well despite the head games you are in for one fantasic kilt............
I just wish I had one and I live here

***sigh*** One day I'll have a Lare. When I order it, Brooster, I'll be going to her shop to have her measure me... and then I'm coming to your house to raid your refridgerator and shed on your couch!

Congratulations Look forward to seeing it. As for the hose, I would go for green, either the bottle or lovat, which ever you prefer (or both.)
