sgian dubh clan crest replacement?
Hi everyone,
I'm new to the forum but have been skimming through, you have some great information on here.
Maybe someone here can help me out - I recently lost the clan crest from my sgian dubh at a rowdy wedding reception. The knife has sentimental value so I'd rather just replace the crest if I can. Does anyone know where I might be able to buy a replacement clan crest for an Art Pewter stone-top clan sgian dubh?
Thanks, hopefully I can kick back some knowledge now that I know about this place.

Can you please tell us which Clan your Crest was.
And post a photo of the Sheath.
They are not hard to order.
Send me a PM or email to steve@freedomkilts.com.

Many of the clan crests used in the sgian Dhub are of a similar size to the smaller version of the clan crest often sold as a necklace. Were one to grind off the small tab at the top of the necklace crest I would think it should fit nicely in the hole vacated by your missing SD crest. I have one like this awaiting manufacture into a very special blackwood handled clan crest SD by a unique artisan, if I can ever get the finances arranged to get it made up. It is a virtual size match for that in my similar existing resin handled SD.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes. Much appreciated. It always amazes how far our ancestors spreasd themselves around the globe.
Thanks too for the advice. I've edited the post with some more accurate information once my hangover wore off - the creat is actually on the handle, not the sheath. IT'san art pewter stone-top clan sgian dubh. http://www.artpewter.co.uk/artpewter...ubh-p-278.html
I've tracked down Art Pewter and emailed them, but if you know of another source in case they can't come through, I'd appreciate it.
Cheers
Jason
