    Passing of a Hero

I realize that the death of Patrick Swayze will likely get the bulk of the news, but a true Hero to Mankind has passed.

    Norman Borlaug.

Isn't that the way it always goes, the true heros always get neglected and forgotten for their true selves!

Heard a lot about him on PBS radio this weekend...so he is getting some due. Imagine more in the future. The way his life was presented he didn't seem to care much for getting any credit - just getting the job done.

Agreed I never understood why people glorify celebrities like all this fuss over Michael Jackson. The world has many really worthwhile people, who deserve our respect and appreciation, yet seldom receive it.

    Thank you.

It's always a wonderful thing to be reminded about the true meaning of hero. Dr. Borlaug was truly a hero.

“Whoever makes two ears of corn, or two blades of grass to grow where only one grew before, deserves better of mankind, and does more essential service to his country than the whole race of politicians put together”
    -Jonathan Swift

I think this describes Dr. Borlaug.
