Sport Kilt "Ultimate Kilt" anyone?

Ok, I need another kilt like I need a hole in the head. At the same time, I'm going through my inventory of knock-abouts. These are mostly SKs "the works" and SWKs "economy" that I use for Highland Games or just knocking around in and a few are destined to be 'repurposed' soon.

I've checked out the SK site and started to ponder the "Ultimate".

Anyone here have one? Any reviews? Thoughts? Musings?

Personally, I'm not a big fan of Sportkilts. That's definitely an improvement, but for that amount of money I'd get a Stillwater Standard.

Oh I LOVE my Stillwater Standards! I just hate beating them up because they are a great economical choice not only for casual wear but also to dress up a bit. In this regard,I don't think there's a comparison to be had.

I'm more interested in filling that other niche in my kilt wearing--that takes-a-beating that you don't mind getting a bit battered. I hate to trash my SWK standards--hence the musings about the SK Ultimate.

I have a Sportkilt, it is the works model. Does'nt fit near as well as my USA semi-trad, which I know is a good bit more $, but I would buy a USA Casual or a casual kilt from Freedom Kilts, before another Sportkilt.

I love my 2 "original" SKs for what they are. I wear my "All Ireland" pretty much every day at home ('cause I like the colors ). But for the price point of the "Ultimate" I'd go with a USAK casual hands down--and you'll save a pile of change. Also, the USAK PV is a much better material for a "beater." My USAK casual has been through the wringer--literally. I've worn it a LOT, washed it a LOT. And no pilling like the SKs. The only reason I don't wear it every day is because I bought it "off the rack" and it's an inch too big...

I own a Sportkilt works, a Stillwater Standard and a USA casual. I really like all three!

The Stillwater is the warmest of the three, so it is my preferred on cooler days. Although the acrylic is nice and warm, it does not seem as durable as some other materials and soils easier than the other two.

The USA kilt is one of my best fitting and best looking kilts. Sammac is not wrong in suggesting one of these at all!

I wear my Sportkilt the most of all, especially in the warm summer months. Why? Because it is so easy. It is easier to slip on and just wear than any of my other kilts. The poly blend they use is easy to maintain and not worry about. They also have a nice variety of tartans to choose from.

The good news here is, you can not really go too wrong with any of these options!

I'm with GDub on this, I wear my "SportWatch" or my SK original most every evening depending on temperature and activity planned. That said, I've looked at some of their higher end offerings and decided that SWK standards are a much better deal.

I'd say buy a sportkilt for what it is.

When you start slapping "stuff" on a sportkilt, what you get is a sportkilt with "stuff" on it, not a different kilt.

And if you tell the lads at SK what you want, they'll sew it up the way you ask.

Just bought my first Sport Kilt. Arrived today. Got it for ... well, sport! I intend to play squash in it and run. Got an original with sown down pleats. I bought my son the works kilt some years ago. Didn't like the fridge. Didn't like the buckles. Both seemed to take away from the simplicity of the SK. Very happy with the one I got today. I agree with Alan. get an SK for what it is. You are not getting a tank!
