Scottish food suggestions needed
So once a month the folks at my work do a friday themed potluck, and November is "Bring your own National food" . I was wondering if the rabble could give me some suggestion of Scottish dishes which I could bring, and would reheat decently in a microwave if done carefully. NO HAGGIS suggestions, only because it's so obvious, as is shortbread, but anything else would be welcome!
(and yes, I know I'm American, and I will not bring McDonalds....just play along )

Smoked salmon and a wee tot of Talisker whisky, is dead easy to do.

You could make some stovies, bridies or Crannachan as a dessert.

I'd think haggis would be the obvious choice, but Tatties,Bannocks, or a good Shortbread is the way to go if you want something most people will like.

deep fried mars bar nah only kidden
em something easy like mince and tatties is a winner for alot of folk
a nice stew mince mixed with some basic herbs and spices with good old butterd tatties or if your feelling brave instead of tatties use tumshae(turnip) and mash that THEN washed down with a pint of coo juice (milk )

There's also a great site, believe it is called rampantscotland, has some great recipes.
Jock's is great and very good, and it being smoked means no reheating.

We did something similar at my old place of employ. I brought 2 steak pies, 1 haggis and a bunch of shortbread. The steak pies were very popular, as was the shortbread, the haggis was not touched. I see nothing wrong with bringing shortbread, most people will enjoy it, yes it may be stereotypical but heck everyone knows it's Scottish and everyone likes it, so why not?

Venison perhaps? Grouse might be harder to find, but would be an excellent choice if you can find any.
Poached salmon would also work extremely well.

I like haggis, but I wouldn't tell 'em what it is until they try it. I have found that nearly all folks--except sissies who don't eat anything good anyway--like haggis once they've tried it.
But, for a sure winner, make Scotch Eggs. Much less trouble than real haggis, and everyone like Scotch eggs. I took some to the school where I used to teach, and the kids hurt themselves eating them.

No knock against shortbread at all! Just put it out because I thought of it already, and I already got some pretty grim looks mentioning haggis, so wanted to look into some other options, knowing little of Scottish cuisine. Some good suggestions so far!
