new here, but old in real life
Greetings all,
I am the new kid, though hardly a kid these days. I live in SC, where we are having kilt weather. I wear the kilt every couple of months and have a handful, from good , but ratty to neat, but second rate. I am not good with uploading, so please think of me as mostly a keyboard guy for now. I jumped in over at DIY and asked for opinions on turning a regular old Black Watch sportcoat into a Prince Charlie. I believe it can be managed, but would welcome any advice.
I am,
yr hmble, &c,

Welcome from the highlands of North Carolina.
There are a number of good threads in the DIY forum that shows step-by-step how a jacket can be rebuilt. They should give you all the info you need to proceed.
If you're asking if you should try to convert it, the answer is "Why not?"

I'd suggest you get a ready-made Prince Charlie. It's the equivalent of a tuxedo jacket, and I don't think you'd wear a Black Watch tux, would you? Although you certainly could if you so desired.
Welcome aboard from western North Carolina, the greatest place on Earth!
