Today I was feeling better, so decided that I would get a bit more dressed than I have been doing - only to find that all my clothes - most notably my kilts, have shrunk!! Alas, every waistband is 3 or 4 inches smaller than it was before I went down with the Swine 'flu'. This is a most unexpected side effect. I know that it is a comon problem in places where Thanksgiving is celebrated, but I had not expected it to occur here, where the festive season is more limited and has not really started yet. Anne, Perhaps its the side effect of extra fluid and salt consumption? Do much chicken soup, perhaps? Cut the salt with eating unprocessed foods (mainly fruits and vegatables) and the clothes will expand to normal size.

It could be water retention right enough, if you were immobile for a long period. I'm taking pills for fluid retention on my legs/ankles, due to being too porky and having a sit-down job. The weight/pressure restricted normal flow and causes fluid being unable to circulate. Now my legs are back to normal (for a fat guy). I also get exercise by going to the toilet every 30 mins (a side-effect of the pills) ! Also, I put myself on a diet which is helping ! My wife can even put her arms right round me again (plus other benefits which were lost for a while - nudge ! nudge ! wink ! wink !)!
Hopefully all will come right in time. Now that you are on the mend and able to take a bit more exercise the kilts should soon fit again.
