I'm in line for another leather kilt from RKilts (a dark green one) and that got me to thinking about the best way to store leather kilts. A few years ago I made hand made hangers for my leather kilts to handle the weight. Bought some long 1x1s, a big hook and a bunch of cup hooks. Laid the 1x1 alongside each leather kilt and screwed the cup hooks in where the belt loops were, then hung the leather kilts from the cup hooks by the belt loops. Not sure that's "good" for the kilts. So far, no problems, but not sure what a few more years might do to the belt loops. Also use weighted clips to hold the leather pleats in place while on the hanger. The belt loops are out of alignment on my RKilt since I had it enlarged and have been too lazy to reposition the cup hooks. Here's a close up of the belt loops and cup hooks on my brown leather Utilikilt. The leather Utilikilt belt loops still line up well with the cup hooks I've thought of running two dowels through the belt loops then running a rope from each end of the dowels to form a sort of hanger. Or maybe its better to just lay them in a drawer. I'm curious how others hang or store their heavy leather kilts.

I'm not sure I would spend that much brain time on a hanger - but they look great.
