Canadian Journalist Killed in Afghanistan
I learned this morning that the Canadian journalist who was killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan was a cousin of one of my Canadian cousins.
A reminder indeed that these far off news stories always affect some family, the victim is always someone's brother, sister, son, daughter or cousin.
I never knew the victim but I have e-mailed my condolences to my Canadian relative.
Regional Director for Scotland for Clan Cunningham International, and a Scottish Armiger.

I wish I had some thing better to say to you Alex, but the best I can come up with is; "I am so sorry to hear that."

For some reason I read the thread as "Canadian Journalist KilTed in Afghanistan".
My condolences to your cousin.
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

I am reminded that it is not only our soldiers facing danger in that sad and torn country; There are other courageous and honourable individuals there trying to make a difference. Please accept my condolences for your loss. May the gods welcome your cousin home.
