A stout homebrew, a dog and eureka!

So I'm doing my second batch of homebrewed beer. The first was a pale ale with corriander which has come off nicely. Now on to my favorites: porters, stouts etc.

Just brewed up a batch of a cream dopple bock with a bit of chocolate. My guess is this will be around 7%. As I was moving across the kitchen from one task to another, my 15 year-old beagle decided that dead-center in the room was his most comfortable spot So, sanitize, sterilize, step over beagle, mix ingredients, step over beagle. Heat wort, etc...step over beagle.

After I finished I went to my label maker to decide what to put on the bottles once I've racked this dark wonder...and it hit me...

    Sleepy Beagle Brown!

Perfect. All my cooking is done while stepping over a 105# golden retriever. Maybe I"ll make some golden retriever pale ale. BTW, he is a blood donor for the Dove Lewis emergency vet hospital, and on the 20th of Feb. dogs and family get to go to the Lucky Lab brewery in Portland for a Canine hero party!!!

I have the exact same experience. Granted stepping over the dog while cooking is a shared experience for anyone with a golden, but coincidentally at last weigh-in mine was also 105#.

Nice to have some inspiration and a brewing partner. I refer to my homebrews as coming from the Spare 'Oom Brewery, as fermentation takes place in the closet of our spare room (and a nod to Mr. Tumnus).

    Greetings,

Although I never travelled into the world of brewing beer I did make mead when I was doing medieva living history. I named mine after the ingredients. My best btach was called Black Cherry Bomb because I used black cherry juice in it and my SCA name was Hamish The Black. I also named one batch after a friend of mine, Dougal's Delight.

I would love to see the label you made for your Beagle Beer.

    With Greatest Respect,

    Matt

MMM Black cherry HAD to be good! Here's the label--I used the same template that I have for others:

Incredible graphic! How did you come up with it? I mean, what software did you use to create it?

I found this site while searching for labels:

    http://www.beerlabelbuilder.com/

Because I'm cheap I don't order the foiled and gumed labels. I just save them as jpegs then print them out.
