Winter Games?
With the Winter Olympics approaching, it occurred to me that Highland Games are usually held in Spring/Summer/Fall...considering the intensity of the things that are being thrown, tossed and hurled, this makes some sense as I'd hate to see a big, burly guy slip on the ice and get crushed by his own caber.
However....
...being the hardy, fun loving bunch that we all are and in the interest of stimulating more interest in Highland Heavy Athletics, isn't there some Winter version of Highland Athletics that could be implemented...even if only as a demonstration sport kinda thing...to keep the interest up and provide a Winter event for the faithful and the generally curious?
Kilted skiing? Kilted huge freakin' snowball rolling for speed and distance? How about kilted snowball fights, for that matter? I reckon that kilted luge would be right out....but maybe there are other variations that someone might want to suggest? I can just see cheering spectators standing around sipping "Scottish" coffee's (and it give us something to do with the whisky that's not quite good enough to stand on its own: toss it into a cup of good, strong coffee!).
Thoughts?
Best
