Dancing at the Utah Tartan Day Ball

I decided several months ago that I wanted to go to the Tartan Day Ball in Salt Lake City. I wanted to take my wife out for a formal evening. Since I love to wear a kilt and she likes to dance, I thought this would be perfect. However, I am not sure what to expect when it comes to the dancing part. What kind of dancing should I be expecting? I know that sounds a little silly, but I am really not sure what I will do if they are doing the waltz or something. Those of you that have been to a similar event, what type of dancing did you see/do?

How about asking the organizers? IIRC there is an e-mail address in the info.

Our Scotsman's Ball has a 3-piece combo that does a lot of 40s music, dancing is pretty free-form with a few couples who really swing and the rest of us shuffling around on the edges LOL It's all good fun!

If you are in luck you will get the chance to participate in some Scottish country dancing, a couple of the more popular dances include The Gay Gordons (gay in this context meaning happy), and Strip The Willow.

Scottish country dancing is fairly easy to learn and great fun, So I trust you and your wife will a have a wonderful evening.

Don't forget to post some photos, if you have enough breath left to take any, yes Scottish country dancing can be quite strenuous.

Good for you! Those are exactly the sort of questions I would be asking if I was (I wish) going. Do your reconnaissance early, get it sorted out in your head, get the kit together and then have a worry free time.Well done and have fun, as I am sure you will!
