    Pre-Jonesing--Got my Louisiana Tartan!

So I got my Louisiana Tartan today from our St. Andrew Society of Baton Rouge. I'm going to send it off the Matt Newsome after a few more pay-days. Thought you might like to see photos of the tartan.

    Jamie,

Go ahead and send me the cloth, don't worry about pay-days. You don't need to pay the CMT till I get to working on the kilt. For customer supplied fabric you don't need to pay me a deposit, the cloth itself serves the same purpose. This way your place in the queue will be held and I'll just contact you for the final CMT payment when you get near the top of the line.

    Great looking tartan, BTW!

    Fabric details/availability

While not a Son of Louisiane, I do choose to call New Orleans home and didn't even know of the tartan.
I found the page describing it's (time-shifting) history, but am still very surprised at the lack of purple, green & gold in it.

What's the content and cost? I checked the St Andrew site but could find no information on purchasing it.

    Merci beaucoup!

I am personally glad it's lacks the purple and gold together (despite the fact I'm an LSU grad)--I don't care for Mardi Gras and Louisiana has much more to offer otherwise. I think anyway that, like many other state tartans, it tries to capture the natural beauty of the state. Perhaps there could be a Mardi Gras tartan designed though. :-)

Of course, there's Mardi Gras and REAL Mardi Gras, the way the Cajuns celebrate it...

It's heavy weight wool. I sent you a PM with the Secretary of the SABR's email. He can give you all the particulars.
