I have obtained a swatch from Geoffrey (Tailor) Highland Crafts and while I don't know about their selvage, it looks to me to be a good weave and at £20 per 27" yard, very economical if a bit limited in selection. Is anybody familiar with it?

If the tartan is made at their store/mill right below the castle on the Royal Mile it should come with a proper kilting selvedge as they have two (I believe) different older style looms running around the clock right there in the open part of the store. Kind of cool to watch, at least for a couple minutes.

I have had a GT Kilt for just over 10 years and it's held up very well.
I really like the quality of the material, and was going to have my wedding kilt made by them, but decided on another company simply due to package options and jacket availability.

I'll get some pics in a few.

Here's some pics of my 10 year old Auld Reekie in Hunting Stewart. I think it's held up pretty well for that length of time with only one dry cleaning/pressing.

Would you mind showing a close-up of the selvedge? I can't tell whether it is a traditional selvedge or tuck-in. Thanks.

This would only tell you what it was then ( the OP said it was 10 years old)
It could be woven on a different loom today,so it's not a guarantee

Sorry, got distracted by my fiancee... here's the requested pics. Let me know if you need more. It's a traditional, the only tuck is the 'kick up' as you can see.
