For your amusement....
Every time I see this picture I laugh now that I see how much of a dork I looked like.......

Hey, it's not bad at all. Actually, I like it, even with the white hose. Don't be so hard on yourself!

Yeah! Not bad! Gotta start somewhere!!

We all start somewhere. In comparison to my first attempt you look great
But then we talk with and read the advice of those in the know and learn.
In the end we put it all together with our own sense of who we are
Wouldn't Life be boring if we knew everything at the beginning and had no chance to grow and develop?

True Jamie, never thought of this subject in that context.....but still, looks funny...

I've seen worse. Heck......I've been worse!

Bigkahuna says he's been worse: I still am worse most days! You're just fine.

I remember when you first posted the picture. I'm not sure I ever would have wanted to look like that myself, however, the only thing I noticed at the time was that you were obviously thrilled with your first kilt. You had started on a lifelong journey and were taking baby steps. Now you can look at yourself and chuckle, secure in the knowledge that you're making progress and are happy with yourself.
Good for you!!

It wasn't that bad. I'm not big on that type of shirt, but that's just my taste. I have an uncle who can pull it off, though he doesn't wear a kilt. He'll wear tan jeans and rock this Davie Crocket kinda thing--no coonskin cap though! Bottom line is if you feel comfy and confident you can wear a tater sack and make it work.
I have nothing against white hose...but I have not and will not own them. They'll be trashed before I leave the house!
I agree with Panache...we learn, we grow, that's part of the fun. I have yet to hear an old man talk about how smart he was in his youth....just how smart he THOUGHT he was!
My first bit of kit was an ill fitting mess that I thought was traditional dress. If only I had found this site first. I think I disposed of all my "first time in a kilt" pic's. Make that hope!
The grass is greener on the other side of the fence...and it's usually greenest right above the septic tank.

For a first attempt that looks pretty good to me. Well done.
As to Jamie listening and learning from good advice, don't believe it! He still has that dreadful bucket hat lurking in his home and I know for a certain fact that some one advised him with some sage gems, to burn it years ago!
