Maine, Augusta on the Kennebec

Do any of you remember a song that was used to teach the US states and their capitols that started off with, "Maine, Augusta on the Kennebec" and then proceeded through all of the (then) 48 states? A friend's mother used to sing it to him, and he's forgotten most of it. I figured this would be the place to find the missing lines. Thanks for your help.

I've never heard that one, but am anxious to learn it. Hope someone can post the words, or a link to the song. Singing is a good method of remembering.

That's great. When I was in the third grade my mother taught me the names of thge fifty states in alphabetical order but not their capitols. When my children were in the third grade I taught them the states the same way.

Well it isn't that old, but for those that remember the show Animaniacs, Wakko had several similar songs including this one about the states and their capitals.
