DC Sunday, Pics to share
Hi all, After Sunday Mass we went out on the town and I left my kilt on (I am still new to kilting, so it was cool for me to be out n about, got nothing but positive feedback shy of a few giggles)
To note:
The socks are the best I could find local (need to hit TheKiltedNation in Alexandria or order some online, but don't have time atm) They are about 5 inches short (I am 6'4"....I'm lucky the Kilt is about the right length)
The Kilt is a Thrifty MacLaren from SWK with matching flashes. The Sporran is also SWK but I was concerned at how loud the Tassels were. I carefully affixed some felt cut to seam to the back side of the Tassels and that dampened the sound sufficiently.
The Shillelagh is a touch of the Irish (my "true colors") but considering the maker only made 5 as of late (one for my Father, Brother, Me....the Bishop, the Bishops assistant)....it is only for special occasions and the occasional photo Op.
Feedback on my attire is VERY appreciated. Tomorrow I am taking my family to tour D.C. and will be in my TKN NationKilt (similar to UK).

My son in his Kilt...the red hair helps him pull it off wonderfully!

I know we have a lot of Masons on here, but if there are any other Knights such as myself, here is your shout out! (sorry my tie is crooked...just noticed it...my son likes tugging on it)

The whole fam, a mother, a couple of cousins, a sister, a wife, a son.....great day!
Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!

Good to see we're not leaving DC out. My daughter lives there and I've been noted to visit her wearing a kilt. Keep up the good work in DC.

Other than obtaining some kilt hose, I think your ensemble is picture perfect

I go to the DC Zoo a few times a year kilted. That is about the only time I go to DC (concerts are the only other and I've not been kilted at a concert in DC yet I don't think. I've been to a number of concerts kilted in Baltimore.)
Kilt looks good Matt. I personally don't wear kilt hose very often, I really don't like them. I've never been a huge fan of socks either. I like a wider belt when wearing a traditional style kilt, but I also have a wider center than you do.

Yes but is it full of eels? Sorry bad joke. Either way great pics, and DC is always a fun place to go.

I need to get some kilted pics next time I'm in DC. Tomorrow, maybe.

Haha! I know the feeling all too well. I am looking to separate from the military and leave this metro business behind me!

EXCELLENT! Gotta love that MacLaren Tartan ![Wink](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
You should try it in a more taliored kilt than the SWK Thrifty and notice the difference (Thrifty's are fine for banging around)
