A rather belated introduction.
Hi there. My name is Daniel, and I'm mostly new to the world of kilts (although I dabbled with a chanter a few years back, I never went very far with it). Although I'm technically not new to the forums (joined back in June '09), I've only posted twice. I found XMtS through Alan H's X-Kilt guide, which I planned to start last year. Due to various circumstances, I wasn't able to start when I originally hoped. Good news, however! I started earlier this week, with much help from my mother (I'm a bit too terrified to do most of the sewing, being the first thing I've worked on). We just finished the pleats, and plan to work on tapering the waistband later today. I guess I'll have to post some photos once it's finished.
Well, that's enough rambling for now, looking forward to getting a bit more involved in the discussions here.

Thanks for the warm welcome all ^_^. I'm from Western New York.
Tonight we finished the tapering, so now all that's left is the waistband, finishing touches, and perhaps a couple of cargo pockets. Can't wait until it's done, I've been looking forward to this for a long while.

Welcome to the forum. More than one person has started with an X-Kilt and never looked back. I made one just after Alan H posted the directions....I've now made close to 30 kilts, including 7 full traditional wool ones. It's an addiction for sure.
Run while you still can...
...or hang on for a great ride!
