A request for those living in Scotland.

My wife is looking for several items for our Burns Supper.

    750 to 1500ml of Treacle
2 spurtles of good quality hardwood
    1 kilo of Heather buds

If anyone can be of assistance, please PM me for details.

NOT in the Highlands, but do have some random thoughts: last I knew Lee Valley Tools was proudly selling some very nice spurtles- and if they don't know good hardwood, nobody does, check their .com website... and is Scottish molasses very different from the local North American variety? Wouldn't the Scots version be coming from Jamaica? Just wondering, since treacle is one of the few things I don't see being sold in the local British Foods stores here in Canada.... And, it's a good idea to give a LOT of lead time to importing heather buds as you have since there is bound to be some misunderstanding at US Customs...

    Hi there,
I'm thinking that rather than hassle with getting fresh plants through customs, you should go to www.gallowayheathers.com or another us distributer of Scottish heathers and buy it on this side of the pond. There are several in Washington state that I'm sure could help you. www.englishteastore.com has several kinds and sizes of treacle as well without the hassle of overseas shipping.

    Good luck
    Victoria

Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.
