The Tartan Store---20% off and free shipping

Found what to me at least seems to be a new and fairly complete kilt store online that is UK based and has prices comparable to many other competitive places, and a fair variety of traditional as well as some cutting edge kilt fashion. I also got an email from them with a 20% off discount code and discovered that right now they are also offering free shipping. Discount code is "SPECLAUNCH01" and the free shipping figures in when you go through the purchase process. Shipping is by Royal Mail to UK and by secured courier to the US and presumably other non-UK locations.

I particularly thought their jacket prices were competitive, especially the modern styles in a variety of fabrics, given the discount and free shipping. But if you are in the US don't forget about the customs tariffs you will most likely get hit for when they ship by FEDEX or UPS. Check it out, and the discount code can be used again and again, although I am not sure how long it will continue to be active.

Could not from the website find out anything more about physical location or relationships to other UK based kilt companies, so caveat emptor.

At least one of their images appears to be lifted from somewhere else

Specifically, this one, which is a Montrose in velvet (which they don't currently offer)

Which is the same image that is used HERE

Too bad I just spent money on new a sporran. Those jacket prices are pretty good. And the "modern" styles have some interesting patterns.

Some of the photos do look a little familiar. I wonder if there's an outside maker who wholesales to other outfits.

The other thing that's a bit odd is this: look at the different buttoning pattern pictured on the Sherifmuir jackets

Both the same (although they don't appear to offer the blue)

    Now compare with this one

Which is their "main" menu image.

Isn't it sort of considered taboo to share coupon codes over the internet? I ask because I honestly don't know. I would think that if they wanted the general public to get those discounts, they would just lower the prices on their website for all to see. The fact that they are sending you a coupon code via email, though, seems to mean that it's intended only for a select set of customers, like some of the paying sponsors do by posting coupon codes here on this board. I'm sort of curious what the general feeling is on this subject (this is not meant as criticism, especially knowing that you're sharing the code in the spirit of helping your fellow kilties).

My take on that sort of thing is that if they wanted it to be restricted, they should make them one-use-only codes. Also, since FM hasn't actually used them, I'd be hard pressed to call it a loyalty reward. I'd guess it's an introductory "Come check us out!" ploy to garner more customers... in which case it's fair game to spread it far and wide!

However, if you are not resident in the EU you will not have to pay VAT on goods purchased in the UK, which will just about cancel it out.

Not only no location but no telephone contact details either, just an online contact form.

And some of the links at the bottom don't work.

The code is SPECLAUNCH, which I take to mean a SPECial for the LAUNCH of their website. ;)

This is a legitimate code, although as I said before I do not know anything more than can be gleaned from the website about their location or the origin of their goods. Leathern is correct in that the email specifically states this is the launch of their new online business. It also states that I can forward the email on to as many others as I please, actually asking me to do so, which means the code is meant to be used over and over multiple times by either the same or multiple users, at least as long as it is active.

I too saw a few images that seemed somewhat familiar, but most appeared original, and I could not place the familiar ones with any specific other online vendor. Even then, as said above, they could be mass production items that are marketed by several different vendors using the same manufacturer provided pics.
