    Smile Happy 235th Birthday, Marines!

    Oooorah fellow Devil Dogs!

The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!

It's a great time of the year. Last year with fellow ex Bootnecks we celebrated Trafalgar Day, Royal Marines Birthday and Halloween all at once. Good excuse to get the Pussers Rum out.

    Happy Birthday to the Corps.

I am no hero, no old war-torn warrior. I know my betters, and I stand and salute those who are heroes and war-toen warriors. But I am a Marine. I'll be a Marine as long as I live, and then I'll be a dead Marine, forgotten perhaps, but a Marine none the less.

Happy Birthday to all my brothers and sisters. We are still Semper Fidelis.

You know Matines are proud, but it ain't braggni' if you can do it.

"The deadliest weapon in the world is a Marine and his rifle." — U.S. Army Gen. John J. "Black Jack" Pershing

"The safest place in Korea was right behind a platoon of Marines. Lord, how they could fight!" — U.S. Army Major Frank Lowe

"U.S. Marines have the swagger, confidence, and hardness that must have been in Stonewall Jackson's Army of the Shenandoah." — A British military observer's report

Marines I see as two breeds, Rottweilers or Dobermans, because Marines come in two varieties, big and mean, or skinny and mean. They're aggressive on the attack and tenacious on defense. They've got really short hair and they always go for the throat.
RAdm. "Jay" R. Stark, USN; 10 November 1995

Marines die, that's what we're here for. But the Marine Corps lives forever. And that means YOU live forever.
the mythical GySgt. Hartman, USMC; portrayed by GySgt. R. Lee Ermey, a Marine Corps Drill Instructor using his own choice of words in Full Metal Jacket, 1987

Freedom is not free, but the U.S. Marine Corps will pay most of your share.
    Ned Dolan

The wonderful love of a beautiful maid,
The love of a staunch true man,
The love of a baby, unafraid,
    Have existed since time began.

But the greatest of loves, The quintessence of loves.
even greater than that of a mother,
Is the tender, passionate, infinite love,
of one drunken Marine for another.
    "Semper Fidelis"
    General Louis H. Wilson
    Commandant of the Marine Corps
Toast given at 203rd Marine Corps Birthday Ball
    Camp Lejueune, N.C. 1978

You cannot exaggerate about the Marines. They are convinced to the point of arrogance, that they are the most ferocious fighters on earth- and the amusing thing about it is that they are.
    Father Kevin Keaney
    1st Marine Division Chaplain
    Korean War

Being ready is not what matters. What matters is winning after you get there.
    LtGen Victor H. Krulak, USMC
    April 1965

I've always been proud of being a Marine. I won't hesitate to defend the Corps.
    Jonathan Winters, comic and Marine

I come in peace, I didn't bring artillery. But I am pleading with you with tears in my eyes: If you f@%# with me, I'll kill you all.
Marine General James Mattis, to Iraqi tribal leaders
