Hello, I'm a piping student (3 years on at the moment) who has made his own kilts. The last two were made following the excellent instructions in Tewksbury & Stuehmeyer and the supplement published on the internet by Newsome & Tewksbury. I've just started a McNeil of Barra, Modern, pleated to the sett. All of the tartan I've purchased (Strathmore and Dalgleish) has had a slight offset to the pattern in the last inch of so of width at the selvege edge.; i.e. it is straight across the width until the very edge where it kinks slightly. The fabric is flat; I assume the distortion is due to extra threads and perhaps extra tension at the edge.
How do you deal with this?
Thanks for your help.
Dave
