Robert Burns Birthplace Museum
Just opened last month and last Friday was the official opening in Alloway outside Ayr.
So if you feel like soaking up the atmosphere that inspired Tam O' Shanter get yourself down to Alloway
you can see the original manuscript for Tam O'Shanter and see the fireplace round which Burns first heard the stories that he turned into the poem.
The museum has replaced the Burns National Heritage Park, to bring together all the Alloway sites with a connection to the bard, that includes the Burns Monument, Alloway Auld Kirk, Burns Cottage, an education pavilion and Auld Brig o'Doon.
The museum contains more than 5000 Burns related artefacts and an exhibition space set over four areas - Identity, Inspiration, Fame and Creative Works- addressing every aspects of Burns life.
The museum is open seven days a week from 10am to 5pm
