    You want what?

From time to time the question of cost vs service vs quality comes up on the forum. I found this Venn diagram, which although for graphic design can just as easily be adapted for kilts and their accessories.

For me, this really puts it all in perspective.

I've seen very similar, but with a rather rude remark posted in the "total overlap" dead center of the Venn.

Always makes me laugh, thank you.

    I vote for "Impossible Utopia"!

Failing that, I'll settle for "Just in time to be too late"

I'd like to add that there IS one thing out there that is Great, Fast, and Free.

    Mozilla's Firefox.

Too good to be true - can't say enough good things about it - and no, I have no professional affiliation with Mozilla

Like I tell people about building fast motorcycles:

"Fast, Cheap, Reliable -- Pick any two. Speed costs money. How fast is your wallet?"

I went for Fast/Reliable 15 years ago and I still have yet to do more than oil changes on that engine.

Exactly! I'm a "you pay for what you get" on the above Venn diagram. Of course, quality want great quality AND speed, then you just need to PAY a LOT.

That diagram is true about almost anything. There are always 3 qualities for a product and these 3 will cover them. The trouble is that there are too many people out there that want the "impossible utopia". Since I'm in computer sales and have been for over 15 years, I always tell people that if they want it fast and cheap that they better purchase a real good longer term warranty to cover the issues they will be having or be prepared to replace it every 8 - 16 months.

I sent it to my wife who works in a promotional products company. Now it's hanging in every office.

This is referred to as a PITA charge in her office.

    Thx,

I had a similar sign years ago when I was gunsmithing. Just words though:

If you want Cheap and Quality, then it won't be Quick.
If you want Cheap and Quick, then it won't be Quality.
If you want Quality and Quick, then it won't be Cheap.

I only had one customer ever ask for Cheap & Quality: Those weapons were being prepared for storage.
I've found that most relationships work best when no one wears pants.
