    RIP Frank Buckles

Our nations last WW1 veteran has died at age 110. I believe my group will be holding a service in his honor at our next WW1 reenactment.

I saw this on my work's elevator screen thing, very sad indeed but what great service! This should be a reminder to us to invest more in the lives of our WWII vets! Good on ya for the notice and post.

    Slainte,

    Zach

I am probably one of the few here who can say their father also served in WWI.
(He died in the 1960s.) Although he and I didn't get along real well, I was thinking of him today.

And the band plays Waltzing Matilda, and the old men still answer the call.
But year after year the numbers get fewer; some day no one will march there at all.

    RIP Mr. Buckles

I also understand that Mr. Buckles was taken prisoner by the Japanese in the Phillipines in 1941. I honor his memory.
