San Diego Tartan Day
Well my Brothers of the Kilt, I have just returned home from my first outing in my kilt and accessories and it was a good day. I actually had my girlfriend with me, even though she was reluctant to go and shyed away from me a bit at first. lol!!!
We went to Balboa Park and attended the Tartan Day Festival and I walked around and chatted with our Brethren from several of the Clans, MacAlister, MacDuff, Logan, Fraser, etc. and I even spoke to a couple of MacDonalds and it was quite pleasant. I even received a couple of compliments from the ladies.
Afterwards my lady and I went to the Mall and went to a Macy's store and did some shopping and I received another compliment from a very cute Campbell lady and a high five! I also got some of the looks I suppose we are expected to get from the uninitiated and uniformed.
On the way home I stopped at my local Starbucks and ordered my usual and the guys asked me what the ocassion was and I explained it to them.
I am posting a picture from right before we left home, so please forgive the belt being crooked, I straightend it out later and was fairly presentable after that!
It was a pretty nice day and an interesting experience which I quite enjoyed.

Kudos. Now I am jealous. I am still awaiting swatches to pick my first tartan. It is encouraging to hear positive stories like yours.

Looking good there! Sorry we couldn't come out and meet up, but we are looking forward to the Vista Games (and any other meet-ups we can make along the way).

Well done, sir! Looks great. I hope your GF came around after seeing what positive reactions you got.
As for me, I'd love to visit SD again some day. Heck, I wouldn't mind living there! ;-)

Thanks everyone!
It was a great day and I really enjoyed myself.
While my Girlfriend and I were walking into the Mall she noticed that another woman was looking at me kind of strange. I told her that I really didn't care and that I had quit worrying about what other people thought or said about me sometime around midle school. lol!!

Calico,
Sorry you couldn't make it, but we'll catch up at he Vista Games.
I'll be posting some more pictures after I get them down loaded. It was a pretty good time even though it started to cool down a bit.

Don't forget to tell your girlfriend how much fun she can have walking about 20 feet behind you in the mall and watching all the reactions after folks pass you - sometimes she'll get to hear what they say as she passes them. A great fun thing to do.

Riverkilt,
Glad to hear you're doing ok.
I had a great time yesterday and although my girlfriend was a little hesitant she was alright after a while.
She did mention that one woman was looking at me a little strange when we were walking through the parking lot. But that is half the fun of it to me!
I can't wait for Rock at USA to get my new kilt here and for Artificer to finish my sporran.
I guess I got it bad, huh?!?!?
