So my Scottevest travel vest arrived. Took it for a hike today along the rim of Glen Canyon. It was 80 degrees and windy - 20mph+ gusts.

Even though it was 80 degrees didn't get too hot with my t-shirt.

No need for a sporran, this thing has 22 pockets! It even carried a 16 ounce waterbottle on one side and didn't favor that side. Could have easily carried another bottle in the other pocket. They call it a weight management system. Never really noticed it during the hike which is a good thing. No tugging back into place.

Its Teflon treated, just like the USA Kilts Macdonald semi-trad I wore with it today.

For the younger kilties its got a wire management system for Ipods and ear buds. They were on sale for $80 when I got it, normal price is $100 with just $5 shipping. They will only ship UPS though for some reason.

Compared to my Filson travel vest the difference is Filson builds the pockets out. Scottevest keeps the pockets inside for a cleaner look. More dressy than outdoorsy.

Here are a few pics of it. This color is Red Rock, it also comes in Desert Sand and Black

Please excuse the white legs...first kilt hose free hike of the year and was breaking in some new Teva sandals I bought last winter over in Zion.

Gotta stay hydrated in the high desert. This is the waterbottle that fit well in the front pocket. There's even an elastic band in the pocket to hold the bottle in place but I never bothered with it - worked fine loose in the pocket.

A back shot - there's a huge back pocket there...and an indication of how the wind was.

Another back shot on the rim of Glen Canyon. That's the Vermillion Cliffs in the distance. And yes, had my Tilly Hat on in the wind - stayed secure.

Overall, this Scottevest is a great value for $80 or $100. For sure will be great for flying, breezing through TSA....sort of like an extra carry on.
