Are our Joplin brothers ok?
Woke up this morning to the news of a nasty tornado taking out a large part of Joplin MO.
I know they will have other things to think about than signing in here but hope all made it through ok.

Terrible, just terrible. I am originally from the Saint Louis area, and have been through Joplin many times. I do know that Todd (cajunscot) lives in Springfield, MO, which is fairly close to the disaster zone. Let's hope and pray others are okay.
God Bless,

Folks, it's bad...prayers/thoughts requested for Joplin, Missouri. This morning city officials announced that 89 people have been killed, and that 25-30% of the town (mostly the south side) have been wiped out, including St. John's Hospital. Large portions of Rangeline Avenue are closed, as is Westbound Interstate 44.
On a personal note, my aunt and cousin are well; house is damaged, but still liveable. Still waiting to hear from our former priest who lives in Joplin, and a friend from NPS days.
Please -- give blood, money or donations for Joplin.

I'm here this morning instead of working right now because of this. I was wondering the same thing- glad some one beat me to it. Prayers and thoughts going out indeed!

My mother-in-law lives in Joplin. She called last night to let us know she was okay and her home escaped damage, but a large part of the city was not so lucky. Prayers for all in the area.
"My beloved America, thank you for your children. If your children want to become soldiers I will train them. When they are hungry I will feed them. When they are thirsty I will give them water. When they fight for freedom I will lead them. When they are unsteady on the battlefield I will motivate them. If they die on the battlefield I will bury them. So help me God."

The water treatment plant survived... some damage, but i'm led to believe that most of it is superficial...
Bound to be a number of leaks from houses etc causing reduced water pressure...
