Sporran help
Seeing as I have just finished a kilt I would like a sporran for it, but I don't have very good funds when it comes to buying kilt items that have been made for me, and I would also like the experience of making one myself.
Anyone have any tips for me, like what kind of material if leather might be out of the question, or if I should purchase one online anyway, like where I can get it for less than the usual amount?
Thanks!

Also, What Price Glory (WPG) sells a Brown Leather Day Sporran and all-leather sporran strap for $25.
See here: http://www.whatpriceglory.com/shopexd.asp?id=1980&bc=no
Both sporrans have had good reviews by members of this forum.

A friend of mine is actually sending me one that he doesn't use anymore, and should be in over the next couple of weeks.
I'll still be trying to make my own though, I want to be able to say that I can make one myself ;)

I say definitely make your own if you can! There's nothing quite like wearing a sporran and being able to say "I made that!"

I say everyone should at least TRY to make their own. A good way to keep cost down is to repurpose something. Like a leather jacket that is out dated or damaged or taking the fur off of a ladies hand muff to make a sporran like I did.

Ladies' sporran
Traditionally, women do not wear a sporran unless they are members of a pipe band, and then to conform to the band uniform.
