You Just Never Know What They're Gonna Say
So tonight my ladyfriend and I are dining at a local western steak house with live band and dance floor.
When we came in the young bus boy kept staring at me. After dinner when we're dancing (yes kilted in a country bar) he keeps looking my way.
Finally, we're taking a break in our booth and he comes over to me and says, "Do you play the bagpipes?" So of course my mind starts sorting through all the smart comebacks I have for that question but fortunately, before I can respond, he says, "I've played the bagpipes for the last three years."
Who knew - in my little town. The band fired up again so we couldn't talk.
When we were leaving I stopped and gave him a couple of kilt cards - so who knows....maybe....another kilted local ere long.

That's pretty cool. And who knows he may have wanted a kilt or to wear one in public and seeing you wear one may embolden him to gather his nerves and do the same.
Let YOUR utterance be always with graciousness, seasoned with salt, so as to know how you ought to give an answer to each one.

My thought exactly! These kinds of stories are great. I had something kinda like that happen to me in a Target the other night. I was shopping for a birthday present for my niece, and I noticed a gaggle of giggly teenage girls stalking me. I thought "Oh great. Hooray FaceBook." I was getting annoyed with them and was about to say something when they all came over to me and asked in a very sincere way if they could their pictures taken with me! They were genuinely excited to see a guy in a kilt, and it took them all that stalking to get up the nerve to come and talk to me! Funny how these things play out sometimes.

What a great Target story. I love it when they want their pics with the kilt.

That's a cool story. It seems you have to be on your best behaviour when wearing a kilt, because people will remember the guy in the kilt who was a jerk.

I was going from Vancouver to Vancouver Island to attend the Highland games in Victoria. I was going out to the smoking deck to have a few puffs on my pipe. As I was opening the door a young lad with a pin in his eyebrow, chains and leather clad. He said "Wow. That looks so cool, I love it" and started asking many questions as to why I was dressed like that (kilted) and the history behind it. He said I think I need to change my look. Thanks man he said.

Amen brother. Not-yet-kilted men are looking for an excuse / a reason. Give it to them!
