    Tartan Unknown ?

I received my 1st kilt last week, and can not identify what tartan this is, also I asked Dutchy Kilted, the kind soul who gave me this kilt , and he does not know either. Can anyone find out what tartan this is?

    Here is the tartan pic:

Doesn't look like tartan from this pic. Warp and weft don't match.

Can you give us a pic of a larger area? Is there a sett?

This is yet another fashion/trade sett variation on the Royal Stewart setting. West Coast Woollen Mills did something similar but with red at the edge of the large square as opposed to the different light blue and green here. No doubt this will have had a trade name but I've no idea who produced it of what it is/was called.

The fact that this has a slightly different warp and weft colour combination does not mean that it is not a tartan. Historically such things were done but it's not common to find it.

The close-up makes me think of a fashion tartan in the Stewart family--like Royal Stewart--but with a different field color. Regardless of what it is, you're on your way to being a fully-kilted member of society. Welcome to the club.
