    New Hampshire Highland Games 2011

It's time to start talking up the 2011 New Hampshire Highland Games in the spectacular White Mountains of Lincoln, New Hampshire. September 16, 17 and 18.

It is the premier Scottish Games and Clans Gathering in the northeast with up to 40,000 attendees over three days. To see the entertainment line up, which is formidable, go to www.nhscot.org

Last year we had a great rabble meet up including members from Scotland. Hope we can get as big a group this year. So post up if you plan on attending this year.

I will once again be manning the Buchanan Clan Tent in the clan village. We used it as a central meeting place last year and all are welcome to stop by and say hello again.

I do plan on attending but maybe only one day (most likely Sat.)

As Dunbar is the honored clan, I feel I must make an appearance!

Won't be able to make it this year due to prior committments, but hope to be up next year -- for the first time in MANY years.

You should absolutely make an appearance. We were honored clan last year and it was quite an experience. The clan village at NHHG is great. Our Buchanan tent will be right next to the honored clan tent in the center of the village. Stop by for a visit and a photo.

    Bridge Collapse after Irene

The NHHG got a bit of a jolt when the main access bridge to the Loon Mountain venue collapsed into the Pemigewasset River on Wednesday morning as a result of heavy rains from Irene. There is a second access bridge farther down the river so the games will go on. The State of New Hampshire is exploring a temporary pedestrian bridge at the site of the original but they only have two weeks to get it installed.

You could cross the river by the zipline
Rather ironic to see the Saltire hanging from the damaged bridge in the video clip.

Yes, someone else suggested zip lines in another forum. That would be quite interesting in a kilt. But sometimes you just have to let it all hang out.
