Whiskey Book
Unfortunately my favorite book store is going under. On the up side I picked up some great books for cheap!
One of them is "World Whiskey" by Charles Maclean. I always ended up flipping through it for an hour or so while waiting for my wife and since it was %40 off I figured now or never. The book has all of the major whiskey producing companies in the world accounted for from Japan to Scotland to the U.S. and has nothing but the "whiskeys worth waiting for" as the author puts it.
I'm going to mark a grade next to the whiskeys as/if I come across them. Nothing professional, just + for "would buy again, - for didn't like it, or 0 for OK but nothing special/acceptable in a pinch. I have marked Oban 14yr, Jameson 12yr, Famous Grouse, and Glen Livet 12yr, with varying success. There's a couple of others I need to mark now that I think of it. Wow, that makes me sound like an alchoholic. That's based on past experience and not just since last weekend when I got the book just so you know.
Right now, at Nighthawks suggestion, I'm trying to get some Highland Park 15yr. Anybody else have any suggestions? PA seems limited in the liqour store selection sometimes but I'll give a look if it's not to expensive.
Slainte,
Hugh
P.S. I got an origami book and three collections of the show Dirty Jobs on DVD as well! Love that show!
