I joined a Pipe Band
Last night was my first lesson/practice, I am very excited about learning how to play Bagpipes.
I originally was going to just take lessons from a private teacher, but he told me my best bet would be to join a band, So after some research I found one close to me, inquired, they happen to not have any students at this time so agreed to take me in under their tutelage.
Learn scales last night, now lots of practicing till next Wednesday!

Good luck. Although not a piper I have been associated with a world champion band and know it will get into your blood very quickly.

I've been studying for just over a year with my local band. I've met some terrific folks, and had a lot of fun. I'm told my torluaths are "getting there."

I joined a band three years ago (snare drummer). Put in the hard work and the pay-off will be well worth the effort. It's great fun! Good Luck!

Congrats! I started lessons with the Fredericton Society of St Andrews Pipe Band academy last fall and have had a great time. Competed in the practice chanter category at two regional highland games this summer. Goal is to be marching with the Grade 5 band by next summer. Toughest instrument I've ever tried to learn but put in the effort and the payoff is more than worth it!
