    Halloween Costumes

Who/what are you dressing up as if you are indeed dressing up? I will be doing my best impersonation of the 11th Doctor and am trying to con Michelle into going as River Song. She won't let me dress Coleman up as an Adipose though, alas he will be a smurf.

    Re: Halloween Costumes

I am doing (have already done at a party this past Saturday) Ben Franklin, because I like to do historical figures I admire and/or find interesting. My wife is doing (did) a Spirit of Fall autumn tree queen outfit, and my three year old wee boy will be (was) Elmo from Sesame Street (his hero). I never do kilt/Highland dress things for Hallowe'en because for me the kilt is both a traditional and contemporary form of national dress, and definitely not a costume.

    Re: Halloween Costumes

Indeed, I have heard that wearing Highland dress as a costume (fancy dress or Halloween) is bad luck. The Duke of Windsor was fond of wearing kilts to fancy dress parties, and look what happened to him! ith:

I am going as a 1920's golfer, in the style of Bobby Jones and Walter Hagen. Tweed knickers (plus fours), v-neck sweater, necktie, socks (kilt hose), Loake brown and white spectator shoes, pomade-filled hair, a crisp, white dress shirt, and a herringbone 4-panel flat cap. No hickory golf clubs though. My wife is going as a classic flapper...should be fun!

As it is, I am not dressing up this year, but...
Guess if I had a Bugs Bunny costume, I would wear it.

Since I wear a Kilt all the time, I am going to go scary and wear trousers. *

    * Please understand that this in no way means that I am making fun of many of you who do wear pants for various reasons.

    Re: Halloween Costumes

    Greetings,

I'm excited as I'm putting together a costume I've had in mind for many years... The Ghostly Piper of Duntrune. Although this will be a "costume", I'm going for a historical look: Belted plaid, diced hose, weapons, etc. I'm still working on it, and the whole thing won't come together completely until the morning of the 31st. I plan on posting some pictures (if I can figure out how to do it). Good luck with all of your costumes and have a safe & fun Halloween!
