UK Weather
Sounds like you fellas over there are getting the heavy winds again today...who did you piss off to get such a run of bad weather?
Radio just said 100MPH winds in Edinburgh...how many of you hardcores have a kilt on?
Seriously, hope all is well.

Re: UK Weather
This morning was a bit wild, even this far South, just trying to keep the rubber side down both walking and driving was a bit problematic.
This afternoon the weather is really playing silly, looking a lot more innocent, but suddenly turning to sheets of wind blown rain for two minutes then back to clear again.
Definitely the weather for wearing something heavy and waterproof for going out of doors.

Re: UK Weather
I feel guilty 'cause it's been so mild hereabouts...we're usually in the deep freeze by January.
I told my family that, to ensure that the temperature would not go below freezing, I should buy some ice fishing gear...these days whenever I conspire to go fishing, something keeps me from going. Also thought that I'd keep it from snowing by buying a set of snowshoes.
Sounds like you all should fill your pockets with rocks before venturing outside...

Re: UK Weather
We have just had yet another day of heavy rain, but we have had hardly a puff of wind. Mind you, I note that we have another depression heading our way for tomorrow. It is getting rather tedious, even for us!

Very wild here in the East - 15 foot tree down in the garden but it missed the house!

Re: UK Weather
Makes me feel guilty (almost, not quite) for the exceptionally mild winter here in Ohio. Normally, the N.E. corner of the state is well below freezing, has been for a month and a half and the snow is "***hole deep on a tall indian", as my Grandad says. Right now I can still see my grass in places and it's still melting.
Wind has been pretty mild, too.
I heard on BBC re-broadcast (NPR here in the states) about the wind. That strong can cause a heap of problems. Hoping all remains stable and nobody gets hurt.

Re: UK Weather
Winter here in the south of Scotland is usually a mix of heavy snows and hard frosts or milder spells with rain and gales. This winter, so far we seem to have had more of the rain and gales and less of the severe frosts. Tuesday I had to drive a minibus to Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the North of England. Unusually for me I opted to wear trousers rather than a kilt due to the strong winds. Sustained a broken window on the minibus due to the wind lashing the door while I was trying to load luggage. The snow arrived on the way home and it was hard work keeping going straight while the vehicle was sliding on the icy surface and being buffeted by the winds but I made it home safely.

Re: UK Weather
Today seemed nice and mild, blue sky, sunshine...-3 when de-icing the car.
Mind you yesterday a guy was having a smoke in the car park under our building and 30 foot (10m) in, he was getting rather wet. He'd never experienced horizontal rain before.
