Burns Night 2012 Victoria British Colombia
On January 21st, around 500 people gathered together to celebrate Robbie Burns night supper sponsored by The Greater Victoria Police Pipe Band in beautiful "Sidney By the Sea" British Columbia.
The steaming Haggis was piped in with all Pomp and Honer this mighty beast deserves.
We dined on Haggis, Barron of Beef, Rosemary Chicken, steamed fresh BC Vegetable Medley, assorted Buns and Deserts that outright sinful. A choice of Wines, Beers and of course a nice sampling of Scotch Whiskeys.
We were treated to the fabulous Pipes of the Greater Victoria Police Pipe Band, Dancing by the very talented Bon Accord Dancers. We were privileged to enjoy the solo piping of Piper James P. Troy, a great rendition of Mull of Kintyre by three musical and vocal artists.
The Gay Gordens was danced by at least one half of the merry rabble much to the enjoyment of all.
The skirl of the pipes, the booming of the drums, the meeting of new friends, the sight of swirling tartan kilts of the Lads, and colorful dresses of the Lasses will remain in our memory for a long time.
Oh... and we were watched over by the head of Robbie Burns himself, in a glass case. He was sent to his supper by The Royal London Wax Museum in Victoria.
Piping in the Haggis
Adressing the Beastie
The Head of Bobbie Burns himself watching over the ceremonies
The famous Steve Ashton and myself
Myself and my Lady
My fine wee Lass Ingrid
Dancing the Gay Gordon's
Beating of the Drums
Lang may your lum reek and a wee mouse never leaves your cupboard with a tear in its eye.

And a grand event it was. I think everyone should have the experience of an entire pipe band at their Burns dinner.
It was great to finally meet you and your lady. It is always good to put a face to a username. I hope this was not the last time we have an opportunity to share a dram.

What a lucky haggis to have a whole piper band for its entrance!

The head was weird, I must admit. It was sitting/ hanging around (not sure how to describe it) at a table all to its/him self.
The haggis is the best I have ever tasted. It was made at a local scottish butchers shop in town.
I also look forward to attending The Canadian Scottish Regiments Burns Supper this coming weekend. I hope they have they same haggis supplier!!!!
It is held in the officers mess which holds a collection of approx 200 different single malts. I canna wait!!!!

I'm glad you enjoyed the event! I'm sorry I didn't get to meet you; much of the evening is a blur for me (tuning, piping, tuning, piping). I hope to see you and your lady next year!
