Translating Comments About The Kilt
So yesterday I'm in Window Rock, AZ on business. Its a long drive so wore my new Utilikilts desert digital camo Survival II kilt. Went with my boss and a coworker.
We spent a long long time sitting with about 30 others waiting our turn to get updated Navajo Nation driving permits and ID cards. Since I"m the only Bilagaana (White guy) most of the folks around me are chatting away in Dine' Bizzad (Navajo language). I don't even think about it.
After my boss asked if I knew the guys were talking about my wearing a kilt. Told her no and asked what they said. After two days of prying it out of her she so far has said they were trying to figure out why I was wearing a skirt and...get this...that I have "nice legs."
Through out the rest of the day all the comments that were made in English were very positive. Including two different very attractive ladies who love a man in a kilt. Be still my heart.
Boss still insists there were no negative comments made in Dine' Bizzad...
